Volunteer Center & UM's Ginsberg Center strengthen collaboration

We're very exited to share that the United Way of Washtenaw County's VolunteerWashtenaw and the University of Michigan Ginsberg Center's Connect to Community volunteer portals are now connected! Below, we've included some further details on what this means for agencies and some resources to support you through the merge of our two systems:
 
What does this mean?
  • The volunteer user experience will not change at all. Both sites' outward-facing appearance and functionality will remain the same.
  • Your experience with both systems has been simplified: all agency profiles and volunteer opportunities/needs that are posted on VolunteerWashtenaw.org automatically funnel to the Ginsberg Center's Connect to Community site. In order to have your volunteer needs appear on both sites, you need only login to the VolunteerWashtenaw site to update your info and post. (Please note: Updates and postings do not funnel in the opposite direction. So, postings or changes made to Connect to Community will not funnel to VolunteerWashtenaw.)
  • You can easily add multiple managers from your organization in order to manage your profile and needs/opportunities. (Please note: if you currently have different managers for the Volunteer Washtenaw and Connect to Community systems, the manager for Volunteer Washtenaw will be the only one to have access to your profile and posting abilities. You can add the other manager from the Connect to Community site to your profile in the Volunteer Washtenaw system to create multiple managers-- details on adding managers appears below). In addition, if your agency has an existing login for Connect to Community, this login has been turned off. If you would prefer to maintain separate logins to the two different sites, please contact us to let us know, and we can turn your Connect to Community login back on. 
  • Upon request, we are happy to turn off any opportunities that you do NOT want to funnel to the Connect to Community site, but DO want to post on the VolunteerWashtenaw site.
  • If you did not previously have an agency profile or needs posted on the Connect to Community site, anything you had posted on VolunteerWashtenaw.org is now posted to Connect to Community. Again, please let us know if you do not want your Agency Profile or Needs to funnel to Connect to Community at any time.
Please visit VolunteerWashtenaw.org to review your postings and make any updates. A short overview of how to do this is provided below, as a refresher. You can also take a look at how they appear on Connect to Community. Since classes are now in full swing at the University of Michigan, we strongly encourage you to update your profiles and opportunities so that students returning to campus can explore opportunities with your organization. Including your agency logo and photos are a helpful draw for students, as well as specific days/times of opportunities/needs since these allow students to match opportunities with openings in their class schedules.

How to manage your agency profile:
Your agency profile provides useful information that helps potential volunteers learn about your agency and decide whether they want to volunteer with you, so it is best to keep it updated with accurate information.
  1. Log into volunteerwashtenaw.org. If you don't have your login information, going to our password recovery page will allow you to reset your password.
  2. Click My Agency at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Edit. From there, you should be able to change your agency's logo, contact information, and much more!
How to post needs/opportunities:
Putting needs up on the Volunteer Center website allows potential volunteers to sign up for specific opportunities! By posting new needs as they arise, you can gain more volunteers for events.
  1. Log into volunteerwashtenaw.org.
  2. Click My Agency at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Needs.
  4. Click Add New Need to open the Create Need form.
  5. Complete the fields in the form and submit!
  6. You can return to the Needs tab later to edit or deactivate your agency's needs.
How to add agency managers: 
If your organization is going through staff changes or would like an additional person to manage your profile and volunteer opportunities, you can add them as an agency manager. This will ensure that they receive important agency manager messages that we send out!
  1. Make sure that the person you wish to make an agency manager has a user account on the VolunteerWashtenaw website.Click here to create one.
  2. Log into volunteerwashtenaw.org.
  3. Click My Agency at the top of the screen.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Begin typing the person's name or email address into the search box under Agency Managers. Click on their name in the dropdown.
