ANN ARBOR, MI (April 8, 2020)- United Way of Washtenaw County (UWWC) announced support from the James A. and Faith Knight Foundation  to maximize the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund (Fund). The balance of the Fund, has grown significantly over the last four weeks with this gift from the James A. and Faith Knight Foundation.

The Fund is to help meet emerging and critical needs in the community related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund ‘s goal is $1,000,000 and has met 75% of its goal with help from local Foundations, individual donors and businesses.

Nonprofit agencies anticipate a surge in our community's needs with unchartered service requests.  100% of the funds raised will be used to help non-profits meet the needs of the vulnerable populations including those needing food, children, families facing loss of income due to business closures, health issues and those experiencing housing crisis.

“We could not do this work without the exemplary leadership from the James A. and Faith Knight Foundation” shared Pam Smith, President and CEO of UWWC. “We are working quickly to get these much needed funds distributed to critical programs in Washtenaw County.”

For almost a century the United Way of Washtenaw County has been here for our community. Our agency will remain open to meet the needs of our County, to support our nonprofit partners and to share information about how you can help!
