Community Baby Shower, All of May: We collect new (and a few gently used) items throughout the full month of May to help mothers in need get a good start for their babies. Over 22% of children in Washtenaw County live below the poverty line. All donations will be distributed to agencies serving vulnerable moms.
Strike Out Against Poverty, May 5: Ready, Set, Roll with United Way of Washtenaw County! Gather your friends, family, colleagues and neighbors and join the fun at our Cinco De Mayo Bowling Bash to raise money for United Way!
YLS Volunteering @ Touch-a-Truck, May 13: Young children are invited to get up close with fire engines, tractors, school buses, and other vehicles big and small while their parents learn about community organizations for families. Each year, YLS members assist in setting up all of the equipment for the event, from pop-up canopies to folding tables and chairs and tablecloths. Volunteers should plan to arrive by 7:30 am and stay until the event begins at 9 am. All volunteers are invited to join the YLS Committee for brunch at Bona Sera following set up. Dutch treat.
Stamp Out Hunger, Letter Carriers Food Drive, May 13: Annual food drive organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers. Volunteers and food donations needed! Just put your donations out on Saturday, May 13 in the special orange bags provided to you and your letter carrier will pick them up! All food collected goes to Food Gatherers to be distributed in Washtenaw County. Read more online here or sign-up to volunteer here!
YLS Speaker Series with Bilal Saeed, May 18: Bilal Saeed is a marketing professional with over 10 years of experience. His specialties include sport, art and entertainment, event and digital marketing as well as sponsorship management and activation. He co-founded Pakmode Media + Marketing in 2008 during his last semester in college where he is now the managing partner. He is also partners in AFC Ann Arbor, Midwest Pro Soccer Combine and SEVEN34 and serves as a board member for Awesome Foundation, Mike Hart Family Foundation and the Rob Murphy Foundation. National Day of Action Registration Open: United Way Day of Action is an invitation for people and organizations around the world to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of challenges. It is a day that we ask you to help us put our mission into action by improving the building blocks for a good quality of life.
