Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a national IRS-sponsored program that pairs certified volunteers with taxpayers like you to file accurate tax returns for free. United Way of Washtenaw County is proud to be an official VITA Site and assist County resident with tax-related needs.

We are currently only able to file tax returns for previous years and tax amendements for existing clients who we served during the 2021 tax season. File at home at no cost with MyFreeTaxes.com. This 100% free self-filing tool thanks to a United Way and IRS partnership. MyFreeTaxes.com screens for eligible credits and deductions through TaxSlayer software. Any issues? Reach the 2-1-1 staffed helpline at 866-698-9435.

Tax Legislation changed in March 2021 and may affect your 2020 tax return as well. Click here to learn more about the American Rescue Plan Act and how it may impact your taxes if you:
