University of Michigan Student United Way

What is SUW?

Student United Way is a U-M campus organization devoted to volunteering and promoting United Way among University of Michigan students. Offering volunteer opportunities, events and opportunities to learn more about Washtenaw County it is a low-stress commitment that works perfectly for Michigan students.

What can SUW offer me?

This year, Student United Way is offering six-week mini-internships available only to SUW members. This gives students an opportunity to work in an office setting and to learn the inner workings of a nonprofit organization. Leadership opportunities are offered through our Executive Board. The Executive Board positions are currently filled, but will change each year.

Who can become a SUW member?

University of Michigan students must do the following (each semester) in order to be considered a member:

  • Attend at least 3 general meetings
  • Volunteer at least once a month
  • Attend 3 SUW sponsored events
  • Post at least 2 times
  • Purchase a LIVE UNITED t-shirt for $6 if you do not already own one
  • Contact suwadmins@umich.edu for more information!
